Why choose a trail at L'île Du Marais De Katevale?
This marsh is adjacent to others, occupies a territory with an area of nearly 150 hectares. Typha path is the path to the island. This is an old railway line, in service at the end of 1800. On the one hand, there is Lake Magog and the other, a swamp populated by cattails, reptiles including turtles and painted serpentine abound, as well as nesting birds. An observation tower overlooking the Black Creek and Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley. A gazebo provides an overview of the extent of the lake. The Squirrels The trail is decorated in spring by Canada serviceberry flowers. Browsing through different paths, we will see a passage having been blasted to build the railway, which continued on stilts to Katevale. We also can see remnants of the time when farmers were settled on the spot, taking advantage of low water levels before construction of a dam in 1910, which forced them to leave.Trail maps
