Why choose a trail at Rougemont Mount?
Mont Rougemont is part of the magnificent Monteregian Mountains of south-central Quebec. It is composed of red rocks and cracks. The summit is 365 m above sea level, with a long narrow valley below. The side of the mountain is dominated by a lush pine forest.
Mont Rougemont is a hill of volcanic origin located in southwestern Quebec, in the MontΓ©rΓ©gie region.
One of the reasons why Mont Rougemont is famous, is the gourmet hike, which can be practiced all year round. Here the agricultural production is indeed very famous (apple orchards, vineyards, maple syrup production...) and the owners of the land often allow hikers to cross them. In this way, one can combine the pleasures of hiking with the interest in good local products!
It is still necessary to re-learn before choosing a trail, since many have been privatized because of the rudeness of some tourists.
Discover this trail
The most famous hiking trail of Mont Rougemont is the one of the Cidrerie Michel Jodoin. It is a loop divided into two paths (the main one plus an extra one), for a total of 3.6km.
This route is public and accessible from May to October. Moreover, it leads to a spectacular belvedere from where you can admire the orchards from above. The trail is of medium difficulty and is also suitable for families with children. However, it is advisable to wear good hiking boots, as the terrain is rocky in places.
The trail starts directly from the Cidrerie Michel Jodoin, which is easily reached via Highway 10, continuing to Rougemont.
The Rougemont Cross-Country Ski and Snowshoe Club is open from mid-December to mid-March, Thursday to Sunday, depending on weather conditions. More details are available on the Rougemont Ski and Snowshoe Club Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/skidefondrougemont/.
* Mountain biking and Fatbike is prohibited at all times.
