Why choose a trail at Cheakamus Lake?

Cheakamus Lake is a lake in Garibaldi Provincial Park on the southeastern outskirts of the resort municipality of Whistler, British Columbia. It has an area of 5.7 kmΒ² (2.2 miΒ²). It is an expansion of the upper Cheakamus River, with the river entering it at its east end and exiting at the west end. In 2005, 40,000 litres of sodium hydroxide was spilled into the Cheakamus River, well downstream of the lake, as a result of a CN train derailment.

The Cheakamus Lake is a beautiful place to visit in the summertime. The lake is surrounded by mountains, and there are plenty of trails to hike in the area. The water is clear and cool, and it's a great place to swim or paddle around in a canoe or kayak. There are also some great spots for fishing, and the scenery is simply stunning.

The start of the trails at the Cheakamus Lake can be accessed by driving south from Whistler Village on Highway 99 for approximately 10 kilometers. The trailhead is located on the east side of the highway and is well marked with a sign.
