A great mountain to climb for all fitness levels with path options for beginners to advanced. The trails are well marked and easy to follow. I recommend taking a picture of the different paths so they are handy on your phone. The views up top are very nice and there are many viewpoints along the way. The hike, up and down, is about 4 hours at an easy pace.

Gorgeous and easy place to hike in the winter. Make sure to bring your crampons because every rocks out there are icy. Windy and beautiful view of everything around, that will calm your soul.

Why visit Parc régional du Mont Ham

With its 713 meters of altitude, Mont Ham offers 18 km of trails with different levels of difficulty. To reach the summit, the most popular route is to climb the "Intrepid" trail (1.7 km) and then descend the "Panoramic" trail (2.1 km) which offers many spectacular panoramic views.

The starting point to get to the top of the mountain is at the back of the park's reception pavilion. While the intrepid trail looks easy enough to follow, the climb is quite intense with a 365 meter vertical drop. That said, there are cables along the way to make it easier. Once you reach the top, you will take the scenic trail back to the original trail before returning to the host chalet.

However, there are many alternatives to this route. Indeed, the Parc régional du Mont Ham has 11 different trails around the mountain. To make it easier for you to plan your route in this natural palace, you can refer to the trail map.

Things not to be missed

Mont Ham Regional Park is a true paradise in the heart of the Eastern Townships. In addition to its idyllic trails, it allows you to discover the culture and history of the Abenakis thanks to its section dedicated to them. Don't miss the Espace abénakis at the park's reception pavilion. In the summer, you will be able to immerse yourself in this culture with the addition of a few native touches: an Abenaki inspired lodging sector, a mountain discovery trail with interpretation panels leading to a statue at the summit and the development of educational tools.

In winter, you can attend the "Celebrate Winter" festival on the largest mountain in the Eastern Townships. Make an effort to watch the program so you don't miss it. As well, the park offers night hikes twice a month during this season. At this time, you can spend the night in a campground or rustic camp, in the heart of nature. The advantage is that you don't have to pay anything for the children's accommodation. However, you can opt for natural lodging near the park to extend your adventure. The park's reception pavilion also offers a bar and a food counter to discover the gastronomy and wine heritage of the Eastern Townships.

There is also a picnic area and a playground for the little ones, the perfect place to enjoy a nature getaway with your children. If you are passionate about sports activities in the great outdoors, the Mont Ham Regional Park's hebertism trail will meet your expectations.
