Why hike at Lac de Saint-Guérin ?
The Lac de Saint-Guérin form a set of three lakes located in the department of Ain, in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. These lakes, which are ponds, are surrounded by forests and meadows. They are part of the Haut-Jura Regional Nature Park.
The largest lake is Lake Saint-Guérin. It is 1.5 km long and 500 m wide and its maximum depth is 9 m. Lake Petit-Saint-Guérin is 800 m long by 400 m wide and has a maximum depth of 5 m. Lac Gros-Saint-Guérin is 300 m long by 200 m wide and has a maximum depth of 2.5 m.
Lake Saint-Guérin is fed by water from the Grand-Morin stream. These waters come from the Jura glaciers. Petit-Saint-Guérin and Gros-Saint-Guérin lakes are fed by water from the Petit-Morin stream. These waters come from the surrounding meadows and forests.
Lake Saint-Guérin is a favorite place for fishing. Carp, pike, perch, and pike-perch are found here, among other species. Lake Petit-Saint-Guérin is also a great place to fish. You can find trout, bleak and roach. Lake Gros-Saint-Guérin is not open to fishing.

The start of the Saint-Guérin Lake trails is located in Saint-Guérin, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. To get there, take the D1075 towards Saint-Étienne-de-Cuines and continue on the D526 towards Saint-Guérin. The trailhead is on the right, after the bridge.
