Why choose a trail at Réserve Faunique Mastigouche?
This reserve, created in 1971, straddles the tourist regions of Lanaudière and Mauricie. It occupies a territory of an area of 565 km² covered 1 a forest dotted with lakes and rivers. The forest is composed of several types of maple stands and mixed forest communities and softwood. We can come pick wild berries. The path of the Six-Chutes leads to an observation tower to see waterfowl lake Bourassa. The trail La Falaise offers views over a lake. Trails can admire the falls and offer varied views. The reserve is home to thirty mammals and many birds including the golden eagle. The National Trail crosses the reserve west is by Mistikush trails Chériore, Lake Joe, Thunder, Saint Bernard, Vianney Guillemette and part of Roland Leclerc trail, totaling, inside the boundaries of the reserve 94.8 km of hiking trails. Refuge, located at the end of Mistikush path was built in the 40s by an American fishing club.
