Starting Point
Entering Saint-Jean-des-Piles: On Highway 55, take exit 226. Then turn west toward Saint-Jean-des-Piles. Continue straight until you reach the park entrance.
Note that parking is free. And there's even a recharging station for electric vehicles if you ever need one.
Why visit Parc national de la Mauricie
On the Mékinac Trail, there is an old plantation that was burned to protect the white pines.
The Gabet Lake Trail crosses the maple grove and leads to a lakeside wildlife viewing blind.
The Cascades Trail winds along a small stream through the coniferous forest woodland. From this trail, you will enter the Cliffs Loop leading to the top of the rocky cliffs of Lake Wapizagonke.
The Etienne Lake Interpretive Trail is lined with observatories and signs on either side through the fir forest.
The Bouchard Creek, Solitaire Lake, and Pimbina Lake trails form three overlapping loops, allowing the hiker to choose the length and duration of the hike he or she wishes.
Activities you can participate in:
In winter, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice climbing and other activities are offered.
In summer, you can swim in Lake Edward's beach and popular waterfalls, or hike or bike along the Parkway.
