Why choose a trail at Réserve Faunique De Matane?
This reserve, with an area of 1282 km², is characterized by the density of moose found there. Indeed, there are three or four people per square kilometer. We even devoted an interpretive center that deer. The territory is covered with a mixed forest dominated by conifers, interspersed with water bodies including rivers Matane and Cap-Chat. This forest full of deer, foxes and more than 150 species of birds including the bald eagle and the golden eagle. Mont Blanc trail leads to the summit, the highest place with 1065 m altitude. This trail can cross different floors of vegetation. Trails Pond Trout and Mud Flat Thibeault include observation towers moose. They go through mud flats, an unusual phenomenon in Quebec. The International Appalachian Trail crosses the reserve through the Mont Blanc and some other summits.
