Why choose a trail at Parc National Du Lac-témiscouata?
The Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata is the 24 th national park of Quebec (Canada). This protected area of 176.5 km 2 is located east of Lake Temiscouata , in the region of Bas-Saint-Laurent . This created the new national park 18 November 2009is divided into two sectors, one northeast ( 157.2 km 2 ) and the other southeast ( 18.1 km 2 ) of Lake Temiscouata. Physical and ecological features of the park make it a territory representative of the natural region of Notre Dame Mountains ( 21,720 km 2 ), the only natural region of southern Quebec who was not represented by a national park. In addition to border the lake Témiscouata , one of the finest in the region, the area has several smaller lakes and is crossed by a major canotable River, Lake Trout River at the mouth of which comes spawn the whitefish . In terms of wildlife, the park houses the largest ravages of deer in the Lower St. Lawrence. Finally, culturally, there is a high concentration of Native American archaeological sites among the oldest in Quebec. Grey Owl also lived on this territory for several months.Trail maps
