Why hike at Mount Finlayson ?
The Mount Finlayson trail is a moderate hike that rewards hikers with stunning views of Victoria and the surrounding area. The hike begins at the parking lot and winds its way up through a forest of Douglas fir and Western red cedar. After about 45 minutes, the trail emerges from the forest and hikers are rewarded with a view of the Saanich Inlet and the Gulf Islands. The trail continues to climb up to the summit of Mount Finlayson, where hikers are treated to 360-degree views of Victoria, the Saanich Peninsula, and the Olympic Mountains. The hike back down is just as rewarding as the hike up, and takes about 2 hours.
